چکیده

The problem considered in this work is to find a dimension independent algorithm for the generation of signed scalar fields exactly representing polygonal objects and satisfying the following requirements: the defining real function takes zero value exactly at the polygonal object boundary; no extra zero-value isosurfaces should be generated; C continuity of the function in the entire domain. The proposed algorithms are based on the binary space partitioning (BSP) of the object by the planes passing through the polygonal faces and are independent of the object genus, the number of disjoint components, and holes in the initial polygonal mesh. Several extensions to the basic algorithm are proposed to satisfy the selected optimization criteria. The generated BSP-fields allow for applying techniques of the function-based modeling to already existing legacy objects from CAD and computer animation areas, which is illustrated by several examples.

Casimir ‎effects‎‎ of nano objects in fluctuating scalar and electromagnetic fields: Thermodynamic investigating

Casimir entropy is an important aspect of casimir effect and at the nanoscale is visible. In this paper, we employ the path integral method to ‎obtain a‎ ‎general‎ relation for casimir entropy and ‎i‎nternal energy of arbitrary shaped objects in the presence of two, three and four dimension scalar fields and ‎the‎ electromagnetic field. For this purpose, using Lagrangian and based on a perturb...

Multiresolution BSP Trees Applied to Terrain, Transparency, and General Objects

We present a system for incorporating multiple level of detail (LOD) models of 3D objects within a single hierarchical data structure. This system was designed for a scientific visualization application involving terrain and volume rendering. Our data structure is a modified Binary Space Partitioning (BSP) tree. We describe how our tree construction and traversal routines may be used with a var...

Binary space partitioning tree and constructive solid geometry representations for objects bounded by curved surfaces

Binary Space Partition (BSP) tree and Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) tree representations are both set-theoretic binary tree representations of solid objects used in solid modeling and computer graphics. Recently, an extension of the traditional BSP tree definition has been presented, in which surfaces used in the binary partition include curved surfaces in addition to planar surfaces. We ex...

Conversion of Binary Space Partitioning Trees to Boundary Representation

Binary Space Partitioning Trees (BSP-Trees) have been proposed as an alternative way to represent polytopes based on the spatial subdivision paradigm. Algorithms that convert from Boundary Representation (BRep) to BSP-Trees have been proposed, but none is known to perform the opposite conversion. In this paper we present such an algorithm, that takes as input a BSP-Tree representation for a pol...
